About the role
As an AI Product Engineer at TheWebVale, you will combine product empathy with AI engineering to build practical software that users understand. You will create AI interfaces for healthcare triage, student practice tools, and legal drafting assistants that feel intuitive and reliable.
You will collaborate with product designers, clients, and backend engineers during two-to-three week release cycles. You will design graceful failure fallbacks, human-in-the-loop review screens, and telemetry loops that continuously improve the product.
What you will do
- Develop user-facing AI applications bridging frontend interfaces with language model backends.
- Design human-in-the-loop interfaces enabling users to review, edit, and approve AI suggestions.
- Implement structured fallback mechanisms when models produce uncertain or low-confidence outputs.
- Build inline feedback components (thumbs up/down, corrections) to collect evaluation data.
- Conduct usability tests with real users to identify confusion points in AI interactions.
- Collaborate with designers to ensure AI responses are formatted cleanly with citations.
What you will need
- Possess 2–4 years of full-stack or frontend development experience with AI product work.
- Demonstrate proficiency in TypeScript, React, Next.js, and modern CSS frameworks.
- Show practical experience integrating language model APIs into interactive web applications.
- Understand user experience design principles for non-deterministic and streaming interfaces.
- Possess strong empathy for end-user mental models and fear of automation mistakes.
- Communicate product trade-offs and user testing findings clearly to clients.
Nice to have
- Experience with Vercel AI SDK or generative UI component patterns.
- Familiarity with analytics tools like PostHog or Mixpanel for tracking AI feature usage.
- Background designing conversational interfaces or productivity software.
