About the role
As a Backend Integrations Engineer at TheWebVale, you will connect client software to external ecosystems including Razorpay, Stripe, WhatsApp Business, SendGrid, and accounting tools. You will ensure data flows securely and consistently between systems for business clients.
You will partner with backend engineers and product leads to deliver verified integrations during our two-to-three week sprint cycles. You will build resilient webhook handlers and error-tolerant synchronization routines.
What you will do
- Develop integrations with payment gateways, SMS providers, and WhatsApp APIs.
- Build fault-tolerant webhook ingestion endpoints with signature verification and retries.
- Transform external data formats into clean internal database models and events.
- Implement exponential backoff and rate-limiting handling for third-party calls.
- Write comprehensive integration tests against sandbox and mock external APIs.
- Document integration workflows and credential setup guides for client teams.
What you will need
- Possess 2–4 years of backend development experience with an integrations focus.
- Demonstrate high proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, and REST API development.
- Show practical experience integrating payment gateways like Razorpay or Stripe.
- Understand webhook processing, idempotency keys, and asynchronous message flows.
- Exhibit strong debugging skills when tracing third-party payload discrepancies.
- Communicate integration status and edge-case exceptions with clarity.
Nice to have
- Experience integrating WhatsApp Business Cloud API or automated SMS gateways.
- Familiarity with CRM APIs such as HubSpot, Zoho, or Salesforce.
- Knowledge of message queues like Redis BullMQ for deferred webhook processing.
