About the role
As a Backend QA Engineer at TheWebVale, you will verify the accuracy, speed, and security of server endpoints and data operations. You will test the backend services behind clinic management portals, coaching tools, and billing platforms.
You will partner with backend developers and project managers to embed automated tests into our two-to-three week release cycles. You will design edge-case test data, run stress tests, and verify data consistency before production deployments.
What you will do
- Design and maintain automated API integration tests using Jest, Supertest, or Newman.
- Perform load and stress testing using tools like k6 or Locust to assess capacity.
- Validate database records, foreign key constraints, and transactional consistency.
- Test authentication mechanisms, role permissions, and token expiration boundaries.
- Document clear bug reports containing curl commands, headers, and error responses.
- Integrate automated backend test collections into GitHub Actions CI workflows.
What you will need
- Possess 2–4 years of quality assurance experience focused on backend systems and APIs.
- Demonstrate practical proficiency writing test scripts in JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python.
- Show hands-on experience testing REST APIs and inspecting SQL or MongoDB data.
- Understand HTTP specifications, status codes, payload validation, and auth headers.
- Possess experience with performance testing tools like k6 or Apache JMeter.
- Communicate test findings and stability assessments constructively with engineers.
Nice to have
- Experience testing asynchronous message queues and webhook delivery systems.
- Familiarity with Postman collections and automated Newman test pipelines.
- Understanding of basic security testing principles and OWASP backend checks.
