About the role
As a Junior Backend Developer at TheWebVale, you will assist in building server logic, database models, and integrations for client websites and business tools. You will learn modern backend patterns while contributing real features to client platforms.
You will work in close coordination with senior engineers and our founder throughout our two-to-three week release cycles. You will receive hands-on code reviews, learn proper database handling, and ship production code with confidence.
What you will do
- Write basic REST API endpoints and business logic using Node.js and TypeScript.
- Construct and test database queries in PostgreSQL and MongoDB under senior guidance.
- Assist in writing automated unit and integration tests for new server routes.
- Investigate and resolve minor backend bug tickets and validation errors.
- Document API parameters, responses, and environment variables clearly.
- Participate actively in team code reviews to learn studio standards.
What you will need
- Hold 0–1 years of backend development experience or structured technical training.
- Demonstrate foundational knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, and Node.js.
- Show basic familiarity with relational database concepts and SQL queries.
- Understand REST API principles, HTTP methods, and JSON data structures.
- Have basic comfort with Git commands including branching, staging, and commits.
- Exhibit strong eagerness to learn, accept feedback, and write clean code.
Nice to have
- Personal projects demonstrating working Node.js server endpoints and database use.
- Familiarity with Express, Fastify, or Prisma ORM basics.
- Basic understanding of Docker containers and Linux command line.
