About the role
As a Senior Frontend Performance Specialist at TheWebVale, you will tackle runtime bottlenecks, sluggish page transitions, and excessive script bundles in our largest web projects. You will optimize complex dashboards for healthcare clinics, SaaS teams, and financial services.
You will set technical benchmarks and guide junior and mid-level engineers on performance best practices. Working directly with the founder and senior engineering staff in two-to-three week sprints, you will deliver fast experiences our clients count on.
What you will do
- Conduct in-depth performance audits of complex React and Next.js applications.
- Analyze and eliminate memory leaks, layout thrashing, and unnecessary component mounts.
- Optimize JavaScript bundle splitting, lazy loading, and module dependencies.
- Fine-tune web font loading, image decoding, and resource hint priorities.
- Build automated CI performance gates to prevent bundle regressions.
- Mentor engineering teammates on writing high-performance frontend code.
What you will need
- Have 5+ years of software engineering experience specializing in frontend performance.
- Demonstrate deep knowledge of browser internal engines, V8 optimization, and rendering loops.
- Show proven experience resolving real-world performance issues in large-scale React apps.
- Master performance profiling tools including Chrome DevTools, Lighthouse, and WebPageTest.
- Exhibit advanced TypeScript, React, and build system configuration capabilities.
- Communicate technical findings and ROI clearly to both engineers and business owners.
Nice to have
- Experience profiling WebAssembly or WebGL browser modules.
- Familiarity with web worker offloading for heavy background calculations.
- Knowledge of service workers and advanced progressive web app caching.
