About the role
As a Senior Full-Stack Performance Engineer at TheWebVale, you will optimize our client applications for speed and efficiency. You will profile performance across browser render passes, API response latencies, database index efficiency, and server caching strategies.
You will partner with our founder and senior engineers to establish performance budgets for projects in two-to-three week delivery cycles. You will deliver measurable speed improvements that elevate client conversion rates and search rankings.
What you will do
- Conduct full-stack performance audits covering client rendering, APIs, and databases.
- Profile and eliminate slow database queries, missing indexes, and N+1 query patterns.
- Optimize frontend script payloads, asset delivery, and critical rendering paths.
- Implement caching layers using Redis, HTTP cache headers, and edge CDNs.
- Establish automated performance monitoring and alerting in CI deployment gates.
- Mentor developers on writing performant code across frontend and backend layers.
What you will need
- Possess 5+ years of software development experience with performance specialization.
- Demonstrate deep knowledge of full-stack web architectures with TypeScript, React, and Node.
- Show extensive experience profiling SQL queries, execution plans, and connection pools.
- Master performance profiling tools including Chrome DevTools, Lighthouse, and APMs.
- Understand network protocols, HTTP/2, edge caching, and server concurrency.
- Communicate empirical benchmark comparisons effectively to engineering and client teams.
Nice to have
- Experience tuning Next.js server-side rendering and static page generation.
- Knowledge of distributed caching and edge compute workers.
- Familiarity with load testing tools like k6, Locust, or Autocannon.
