About the role
As a Senior Mobile Performance Engineer at TheWebVale, you will optimize mobile applications across our client portfolio. You will eliminate stuttering animations, profile memory leaks, optimize app launch times, and minimize battery consumption across Android and iOS platforms.
You will partner with our founder and mobile engineers during our two-to-three week release intervals. You will establish performance benchmarks and guide developers on writing memory-conscious mobile code that clients can rely on.
What you will do
- Profile mobile applications using Xcode Instruments and Android Studio Profiler.
- Identify and resolve UI jank, thread blocking, and frame drops to sustain 60fps.
- Detect and eliminate memory leaks, excessive object allocations, and retain cycles.
- Optimize app startup time, splash screen transitions, and asset bundle sizes.
- Analyze and minimize network payload sizes and background battery drain.
- Mentor mobile developers on high-performance coding habits and profiling workflows.
What you will need
- Possess 5+ years of software engineering experience with deep mobile performance focus.
- Demonstrate extensive mastery of mobile profiling tools in Xcode and Android Studio.
- Show deep understanding of mobile rendering pipelines, GPU compositing, and memory management.
- Have proven experience optimizing React Native, Flutter, or native mobile applications.
- Exhibit strong analytical problem-solving skills supported by empirical benchmark data.
- Communicate complex technical optimizations clearly to engineers and founders.
Nice to have
- Experience with native C++ or graphics rendering in mobile game engines.
- Familiarity with mobile database indexing and SQLite query optimization.
- Knowledge of automated performance testing inside mobile CI pipelines.
